A Wrapping Record: 4,196 Gifts!

We will be able to say that it was a record breaking year.

Number of kiosk days, number of volunteers involved, set-up time for the Wrapping Workshop, length of wrapping time taking into account the number of gifts: all records. Indeed, on December 5th and 6th, the team wrapped 4,196 gifts in 15 hours!

Everything started with the fundraising, in mid-September with our kiosk at Marché Jean-Talon. The weather cooperated this year, so we were open 21 days and welcomed 79 volunteers to sell our nuts & candy and talk about the Foundation’s mission. In fact, we drew restaurant gift-certificates among those volunteers. We owe an immense debt of gratitude towards the Marché des saveurs du Québec, our fantastic host at Marché Jean-Talon, without which our fundraising would be extremely difficult. As well, let us not forget Lozeau’s support for our weekend with Santa.

Then it comes to the Wrapping Weekend, we must highlight the renewed support of Jouets Choochoo, Paramount Paper, Groupe Robert, Kindersley Transport, and Café Barista. As well, for the 11th year, Collège Jean-de-Brébeuf welcomed our brigade with unparalleled generosity.

On Saturday, our 241 wrapping Elves were accompanied on the piano by the Elf René-Pierre, and on Sunday, they danced as Les cousines Lavoie took the stage.

As a bonus, some Elves won door prizes: Balinese hammocks, restaurant gift-certificates, cookbooks by Louise Gagnon, Cola 1642 sixpacks and an amazing gift basket of I-D Foods goodies.

BIG HEARTFELT THANKS to those who, by donating their time, money or resources, have helped our 2015 campaign. May 2016 be full of health and happiness for all!

PS It’s still possible to donate to the 2015 campaign since we still have to cover the cost of some gifts and some shipping expenses.
